The professional stuff...

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master's degree from University of Northern Colorado.  I am also a Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist (DBTC) and am trained in EMDR and clinical hypnosis.  I have been working with individuals and families in Colorado Springs since 1997 and have been a practicing counselor since 2004 in a variety of settings and roles including outpatient treatment, residential services, home-based therapy, private practice, and expert witness services for the courts.  In addition, I have been privileged to train numerous therapists as an internship supervisor, post-graduate clinical supervisor, employer and educator before deciding to slow things down and return to the joys of private practice.  I love helping people from all backgrounds find a path that brings them happiness and personal fulfillment.

I have a pretty straight-forward approach with a healthy dose of sarcasm and humor.  I am a realist and believe that there is no such thing as perfection.  To truly enjoy life, one must learn to embrace their flaws and find comfort in imperfection.  I have an immense respect for my clients and their families, and truly believe that most people are just trying to do the best they can with the hand that life has dealt them.  Not everyone is able to dance gracefully through life; some just struggle along doing their best to find the beat.

The personal stuff...

While I love being a counselor, I also love my life outside of the office!  When not in the office, I tend to stay pretty busy as a wife and mom to two fabulously challenging boys who are always keeping me on my toes and quickly turning my hair gray.  I love to travel and dabble in photography.  I am also a true lover of the outdoors.  While far from being a super athlete, I am a fairly avid hiker and backpacker and can often be found out on one of our local trails with my husband and my pups, Sadie and Rex.  In addition to having two dogs, I also have three cats but because they hate me I may or may not acknowledge their presence on any given day.  I am proud to say that I am one of the few Colorado Springs Natives and Denver Bronco Football is in my blood...even during the losing seasons.
